Butterfly Structure is a 3×3-inch hardboard magnet with an illustrated butterfly spread across a warm ivory background. Cream, amber, and dark brown markings follow the wings, while fine structural guide lines give the image the character of a natural-history study.

The open-wing composition lets the pattern and symmetry do most of the work. Dark edges and pale spots hold the outer shape, and the more delicate body and antennae invite a closer look. The surrounding space keeps the study readable at the magnet’s small size.

Printed detail with a white border

Thin, rigid white hardboard gives the magnet a simple square form with rounded corners. A slim white border surrounds the printed artwork, echoing its softly rounded image corners. The butterfly is illustrated on the flat face; it is not a mounted specimen or a raised ornament.

Its three-inch format fits naturally on a compatible refrigerator door or a ferromagnetic steel noticeboard. Display it alone as a small natural-history picture, or use it over the corner of a light paper note while keeping the butterfly visible.

Observation in Patent & Prototype

Mirabilia’s Patent & Prototype world includes the structures found in nature alongside the things people design and build. A butterfly’s repeated markings and balanced form belong to that world of looking closely, making comparisons, and noticing how something is put together.

The warm palette makes the study easy to live with. It brings an illustrated natural subject into an everyday space without turning the refrigerator or noticeboard into a themed display.

A small gift for a close observer

Butterfly Structure suits a nature journal keeper, a butterfly admirer, a teacher, or someone who collects small pieces of natural-history art. It can add detail to a kitchen, office board, or studio cabinet with a suitable magnetic surface.

The design is compact enough to join other notes and pictures, but complete enough to enjoy on its own. Its appeal rests in the butterfly’s pattern and the simple pleasure of having a carefully observed form close at hand.
