Christmas at the Gable Canvas | Briar & Gable

Christmas at the Gable is an 8 x 8-inch canvas depicting an English stone house at winter dusk. Warm windows brighten the limestone facade, while an open garden gate leads toward a green front door. Burgundy bows on the wreath and gate add a small, deliberate note of Christmas among the holly, ivy, and bare winter stems.

The canvas and its details

The square gallery-wrap canvas is 1 inch deep, with a centered 7.5 x 7.5-inch printed image and a quarter-inch border of exposed white canvas on all four sides. The white edge belongs to the continuous canvas surface. The artwork is printed, allowing its painterly stonework, gathering blue sky, and delicate garden details to remain the focus.

The composition leaves room around the house and garden wall, so the architecture can be enjoyed alongside the seasonal greenery. Its warm ivory stone, deep greens, and restrained burgundy accents work naturally with oak furniture, aged brass, linen, and blue-and-white ceramics.

Christmas in Briar & Gable

This piece opens the Christmas at the Gable capsule within Briar & Gable, a world of English houses, gardens, and the objects kept within them. Here, Christmas begins outside: a lit window, a wreath on the door, and a gate left open for someone expected. The scene contains no figures, leaving the small signs of welcome to tell the story.

A place for it at home

Display it on a picture ledge, an entry console, or a bookshelf where its small house can be seen among familiar books and collected objects. A little space around the canvas lets the garden gate and evening light read clearly. It can also anchor a seasonal grouping with simple greenery and a brass candlestick.

For someone who loves English architecture, winter gardens, or the ritual of coming home for Christmas, this is a specific and thoughtful seasonal gift. It also coordinates with The Room Is Ready and While the House Sleeps, the two interior canvases in the same six-piece capsule.
