Courtyard Shadow Pillow is a 16-inch natural canvas decorative pillow with a broad botanical band down the center and plain fabric on either side.

A botanical band with room around it

Olive leaves and blue olives cross a broad vertical band of terracotta and ivory. Printed leaf shadows add another layer to the composition, recalling the changing light of a courtyard. The band runs down the center of the pillow from the top seam to the bottom seam. Equal areas of plain natural canvas remain on either side.

The contrast between the full-height band and the quiet side fields gives the pillow a clear textile structure. Warm clay tones sit beside green leaves and small blue accents, while the ivory areas connect the print to the surrounding fabric. The botanical detail remains concentrated rather than spreading across the whole face.

Natural canvas with a printed front

The square pillow measures 16 × 16 inches and is shown as a filled pillow with its insert included. The design is printed on the front, with a plain matching natural back. Its botanical band is printed artwork rather than a separate fabric strip, embroidery, or raised applique. The plain side fields are part of the design.

A detail from Sol & Sombra

Sol & Sombra takes its inspiration from a lived courtyard home in an unnamed southern Spanish town. Its world is shaped by the relationship between brilliant sun and cooling shade, privacy and welcome. Limewash, handled wood, terracotta, foliage, water, and blue ceramic appear through ordinary domestic moments. This piece brings one part of that imagined home into an object to live with.

Bring the band into a room

Place it on a linen chair, a daybed, or a sofa where the vertical composition can give a small area of color and pattern to otherwise simple upholstery. The terracotta works naturally with warm wood, while the leaves connect with green accents elsewhere in a room. The blue olives add a small cooler note. Use it as one considered accent or alongside plain pillows that leave the botanical design room to be seen.
