Home & Wilderness Canvas Shelf Sitter | Briar & Gable

Home, with room for things to grow

Home, with a Little Wilderness Around the Edges is a 4×12-inch canvas shelf sitter featuring deep green lettering, rambling pink roses, and a small English stone cottage. The phrase stretches across a warm cream background, with a generous serif “Home” followed by the italic words “with a little wilderness around the edges.”

Rose branches frame both ends of the composition. Open blossoms, small buds, and varied green leaves reach inward, while the cottage nestles beneath the lettering on the left. Its pitched roof, chimneys, and surrounding planting create a miniature house-and-garden scene within the larger design.

The horizontal arrangement leaves open space around the words, keeping the message clear while allowing the botanical details to unfold along the edges. Dusty pink flowers, rich greens, and warm stone tones give the artwork a palette that sits naturally beside wood, pottery, books, and linen.

A canvas accent for shelves and mantels

The canvas surface adds visible texture to the piece, with a white border surrounding the printed artwork. Measuring four inches high by twelve inches wide, the shelf sitter provides a long, low decorative accent for a mantel, bookcase, entry console, or kitchen dresser.

Place it beneath a botanical print, beside a flower-filled jug, or among objects collected over time. Its proportions make it useful for connecting a display across a shelf, with the lettering providing a focal point between taller pieces.

The spirit of Briar & Gable

This design expresses a central idea of Mirabilia’s Briar & Gable world: house and garden growing together. The cottage supplies structure, while rose stems stretch beyond tidy boundaries. The phrase gives that relationship an everyday voice, suited to a home with climbing plants outside and a few gathered branches indoors.

Briar & Gable finds beauty in attention, use, and the changing landscape. Here, that character appears in a small house surrounded by growth and a welcoming declaration with room for a little unruliness.

A gift for a home with character

This canvas shelf sitter makes a thoughtful housewarming gift for a gardener or someone drawn to English country interiors. It also belongs in your own home, especially where the view through the window includes something happily exceeding its allotted space.
