Precision Compass Study Magnet

Precision Compass Study is a 3×3-inch hardboard magnet featuring a detailed illustration of a brass drafting compass. Its open legs meet a lightly drawn arc on a warm ivory ground, bringing the gestures of measurement and drawing into a small, practical piece of art.

The compass is the central subject, with shaded brass tones and fine dark points that give the instrument definition. The quiet background leaves space around it, while the curved pencil line suggests a drawing in progress. There is no added slogan or crowded technical labeling.

A small illustrated surface

The magnet has thin, rigid white hardboard construction and rounded square corners. A slim white border surrounds the printed illustration, keeping the image distinct from the surface behind it. The instrument’s metallic appearance belongs to the artwork; the face is a printed design.

At three inches square, it is a compact accent for a compatible refrigerator door or a ferromagnetic steel noticeboard. The whole image remains visible when used over the corner of a small paper note. It can also be displayed on its own, letting the compass become a small focal point among everyday reminders.

From the drafting table

The piece belongs to Mirabilia’s Patent & Prototype world, which brings together instruments, notebooks, models, and natural studies. Here, a single familiar tool carries that world’s interest in precision without losing the warmth of its ivory and brass palette.

A compass can be appreciated for the shape of the object itself, for its connection to drawing, or for the work it makes possible. The design leaves that reading open rather than attaching a fixed message to it.

For the everyday board

Use it in a kitchen, home office, or creative studio with a suitable magnetic surface. It makes a small, specific gift for an architect, engineer, illustrator, or sketchbook keeper, especially someone who enjoys useful objects with an artistic subject. The restrained colors also let it sit comfortably beside a changing collection of notes and photographs.
